Rashesh Shah, Co-founder of the Company, has over two and half decades of diverse experience in the financial markets and has been instrumental in building Edelweiss into one of India’s leading diversified financial services conglomerates.
Rashesh is passionate about financial services and the role they can play in translating India’s vast savings into investments; thereby powering economic growth and development. A regular commentator on macro-economic policies, development matters and financial markets in the mainstream and financial media, Rashesh serves on the Boards of various companies and public institutions. He is a part of the High Level Task Force on Public Credit Registry for India as well as the Insolvency Law Committee. He is currently the President of FICCI, which is India’s Apex Industry association.
Previously, he was also on the Executive Committee of the National Stock Exchange and on the committee to review Insider Trading Regulations set up by Securities and Exchange Board of India – the country’s capital markets regulator.
An MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Rashesh also holds a Diploma in International Trade from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
Deepak Mittal has around two decades of experience in the financial services arena. He co-heads the Credit business of the Group.
Deepak has played several key roles at Edelweiss, his most recent as CEO of Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, a joint venture between the Edelweiss Group and Tokio Marine Holdings of Japan.
Earlier, Deepak helped scale up the Capital Markets business and then subsequently became the Chief Financial Officer, where he helped steer the firm through a successful Initial Public Offering. Post the IPO, when the global financial crisis disrupted markets the world over, Deepak was part of the core crisis management team at Edelweiss and helped navigate the Group successfully through extremely difficult business situations, while playing a key role in the expansion of various Group businesses.
Deepak led the Group’s new strategic initiatives, including the acquisition of Anagram stock broking, which expanded the Group’s retail reach manifold.
A Chemical Engineer from IT-BHU he is an MBA from the IIM Ahmedabad.
Vidya Shah is the CEO of EdelGive Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Edelweiss group with over two and half decades of rich industry experience. She spent the first 11 years of her career in investment banking with companies like ICICI, Peregrine and NM Rothschild in Mumbai, where she advised corporations in Capital Raising and M&A transactions.
She joined Edelweiss in 2000 as the Chief Financial Officer of the Company and oversaw various important functions such as Finance, Human Resources and Administration.
Under her leadership, EdelGive Foundation has become a catalyst for change, dedicated to collaborative philanthropy. She is also on the Boards of various non-profit organisations.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
P N Venkatachalam has over four decades of experience in the banking sector in India and abroad and has also worked in the software industry in banking & finance verticals. He joined State Bank of India in 1967 and retired in 2004 as its Managing Director.
He was a member of the Interim Pension Fund Regulatory Authority of India and a Director on the Board of Small Industries & Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and is a Certified Associate from the Indian Institute of Bankers.
Biswamohan Mahapatras’career spans over three decades. He retired as Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in August 2014. At RBI he was overseeing banking regulation, policy, and supervision. Post retirement, he was an Advisor to RBI on the new bank licensing process. He has represented RBI at various national and international forums and chaired several RBI committees. He was also the Member-Secretary to the Committee set up to introduce a financial holding company in India and was also involved in the formulation of Basel II and Basel III regulations.
He holds a Master of Science in Management (MSM) degree from the Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute, Cambridge, and an MBA from University of Delhi.
Venkatchalam Ramaswamy, Co-founder of the Company has over two and half decades of experience in the financial markets. Widely recognised as one of India’s finest deal-makers, he co-heads the Global Wealth and Asset Management business, while continuing to play a mentorship role with Edelweiss Investment Banking. Venkat has been instrumental in crafting a client-need focused solutions approach for the Distressed Asset Resolution as well as the ARC business. Today, Edelweiss ARC is the leading ARC in the country.
Using his skills at building and maintaining large institutional relationships including International Pension Funds and Insurance companies, the Edelweiss Global Asset Management team, today is one of the fastest growing multicategory Alternative Asset Management businesses in India.
An MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, United States of America, he also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering.
Kunnasagaran Chinniah has more than three decades of experience in the financial sector. He is presently a director of Changi Airport International, Keppel Infrastructure Trust, Azzela Asset Management, Hindu Endowments Board, Singapore and several other companies.
Earlier, he retired as the Managing Director/Global Head of Portfolio, Strategy & Risk Group with GIC Special Investments (GICSI), the Private Equity arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC). He joined GIC in 1989 and has held various positions with the Special Investments Department of GIC in their North American, European and Asian regions.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and his other academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Anita Marangoly George has over three decades of experience. She is Executive Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships – Growth Markets, CDPQ. She joined CDPQ as the Managing Director, South Asia in April 2016.
Prior to joining CDPQ, she was Senior Director of the World Bank’s Energy and Extractive Industries Global Practice. She also held the position of Director, Infrastructure and Natural Resources of the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group and Head of Siemens Financial Services in India. Her various roles have led her to work in several regions of the world, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
She holds a BA in Economics and Spanish from Smith College, Massachusetts, a Master’s degree in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Boston University.
S. Ranganathan has over 35 years of experience, including more than two decades in the Banking & Financial segment in leadership roles. Prior to moving into ECL Finance, he was the President & Group CFO of Edelweiss for over 10 years. As Group CFO, he was involved across all the businesses within the Group and played a key role in shaping business strategies, allocating capital, setting and monitoring risk boundaries, resource raising, managing key business relationships etc. He is a result oriented professional with rich experience in driving Strategic planning and Financial management, encompassing Accounting, Taxation, Statutory compliances, Budgetary control, Risk & Assurance, Fund raising and Stakeholder relations. Starting his career in 1985, he has worked his way through a host of manufacturing and services companies before entering Financial services in the Citigroup in 2000 as Country Controller and later with Bank of America – Merrill Lynch as CFO.
S Ranganathan is a Chartered Accountant by qualification. He has also completed his Cost Accountancy and Bachelor of General Law apart from being a Company Secretary.
